COEASE-M tablets contains a combination of Drotaverine Hcl. 80 mg and Mefenamic Acid 250 mg. Drotaverine Hcl inhibits the enzyme Phosphodiestrease-IV and prevents Ca2+ influx in the cell causing relaxation in the smooth muscle, without having the traditional anticholinergic side effects. Mefenamic acid inhibits cyclooxygenase enzyme leading to a reduction in prostaglandin biosynthasis resulting in a powerful analgesic effect. The combination of a smooth and safe antispasmodic with a powerful analgesic is effective in the management of pain and spasm associated in conditions like Gastroenteritis, amoebiasis renal colic, irritable bowel syndrome and in primary dysmenorrhoea. Coease-M can be considered as an effective medication in the concerned indication with a better side effect profile.
